Foot of Elizabeth Street
Although great change was already underway along the waterfront by 1965, the shrimp boat Little Mike was still tying up at the O'Neal and Thompson dock at the foot of Elizabeth Street. Everywhere your eye wanders in the photo you find signs the end is near for this formerly active stretch of the waterfront - the abandoned warehouse, the dilapidated wharf, the THING THAT LOOKS LIKE AN ABANDONED MATTRESS - ANY CLUE?? This photograph truly represents an element of Key West's history that can no longer be found on the island.
