It's the 800 block of Duval Street looking north in this 1950's shot (enlarge). We're approaching the intersection of Petronia and Duval and most of the structures in the period photo match the modern view. The sign for the Cave Inn Bar can be seen on the left hand side of the street. The Cave Inn was quite the hot spot for enlisted personnel during and following WWII. Notice the inventive way of parking on a one-way street - Key West style.

In today's photo, the building on the near right-hand corner has morphed into 801 Bourbon Bar ­ a hot spot of a different stripe.
